Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective
About BATJC
The Bay Area Transformative Justice Collective (BATJC) is a community group based out of Oakland, CA working to build and support transformative justice responses to harm and violence. We envision a world where everyday people can intervene in incidences of harm (including child sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, and community harm) in ways that not only meet immediate needs but also prevent future violence and harm.
Our work consists of securing safety and intervening in current violence, while also building long term spaces of accountability and strategies for healing and resilience for all survivors, bystanders, and those who have caused harm. We hold learning and practice spaces and support both survivors and people who have caused harm through 1-on-1 conversations or group processes. Our goal is to strengthen and support our community’s collective capacity to respond to harm in all the spaces they move within.

What We Do
Interventions Crew
We hold a free multi-session Intervention Crews Series every other year. In this series, participants collaboratively explore core concepts, values, skills, and practices of transformative justice and community accountability, while building relationships and connection with one another.
Trainings & Labs
We have historically facilitated transformative justice 101, pod-mapping, and other skills-based learning spaces. We are not currently planning to hold trainings or labs, but welcome direct outreach for support and resources on these topics.
Processes & Interventions
We hold, resource, and support transformative justice-based interventions and community accountability processes for violence, harm, and abuse in our local community. We take on interventions on a case-by-case basis. We are constantly learning from others and documenting our own learning along the way.
